Question for Mr. David Griffith

I have seen the phrase "Plexar was here" in the games Fort Apocalypse
and (I believe) Lode Runner's Rescue for the Atari 8-bit.  (I don't know
if it was programmer signature or a software pirate.)  What is the
origin of the phrase to your knowledge?
